I wanted to post this yesterday but a broken internet modem decided otherwise … After a short trip to the Telenet dealer in Wetteren I was able to resolve the problem & now I’m back to dive into my huge pile of e-mails ánd present you all a little preview of what happened in front of my camera on Saturday.
Together with my amazing second-shooter-for-a-day Tom from Fotofolio.be I shot the ultracool superfabulicious megafantastic wedding of Annemie & Sammie in Sint-Laureins. Love was all around !
Sammie & Annemie, below you’ll find 4 photos to feed your appetite. The behind-the-scenes photos and ofcourse the final results will be on the blog soon.
Thanks again btw, it’s people like you that make me love my job sooooooooo much !
Oh and ofcourse I can’t forget to thank Tom to join me for 17hours of wedding-fun

Alrighty, the weekend is about to begin
Tomorrow I’ll be shooting the awesome wedding of Sammy & Annemie in Sint Laureins but now it’s time for a new blog post.
To make the last working hours more bearable I can highly recommend the slideshow below
!
It was an incredibly fun day that started at Lieve’s parents’ house where she was getting ready, follow by a short trip to Herman’s parents where we where just in time to see him get in his pants
. I was joined by the incredibly talented Andres of videography.be, who was their videographer for the day. If any of you are looking for a videographer, I can highly recommend Andreas !!!
After the beautiful ceremony (they had a kick-ass choir where Lieve is a member), there was a short, wet reception at their home. Luckily the rain clouds finished their business quickly so the sun could take over to join us during their foto shoot
. After 2 hours of romance and fun we drove to Beervelde towards De Renard for what was going to be a very fun party !!!
Lieve, Herman, sisters, parents & friends, thank you for a very fun, spontaneous day !

An engagement session is not only for couples that are about to get married, but also for those who are already married, or for those of you that want some romantic & fun photos with your significant other.
Sandra & Bart knew that
. They wanted some photos to decorate their little lovenest & luckily they found me
.
Together we drove to an old abandonned factory in Aalst, Schotte. It’s a huge area with endless possibilities. You have to be a bit carefull though, you’re never alone when you’re there.
While we where there we met a group of people from England who came to Belgium especially to visit urban locations. Every shoot is a new adventure
.
Sandra & Bart, it was a great afternoon. It was a lot of fun to get to know you guys ! I hope some of the photos get a very nice spot in your home, and if you ever decide to get married, let me know
.

It’s getting late (almost midnight here in Belgium) but I still want to treat you all to some images from the awesome wedding of Lieve & Herman. For those among you that are thinking “Hey, we didn’t see any photos from their engagement session” : you are right. Because of an unhealthy amount of rain we had to cancel our gettogether and their wedding date was so close that we didn’t have any time to reschedule … Anyway, I’ll tell you the rest of the story when I post their slideshow
For now, enjoy !

Thomas Bouve threw me, after a short discussion on Twitter, a stick. For you enjoyment, I happily unleash the dog in me and fetch his stick.
What is this all about ? Wel, Thomas is wondering about how other photographers images look like before & after (so straight out of camera vs the finished photograph). You can read his “challenge” here (dutch) , and check out his own before & after shots here (again, in Dutch).
To give you an honest view, I simply chose 4 shots from the engagement session I’m currently working on, that from Sandra & Bart in Aalst. On the left hand side you can see the original image, on the right the finished one.
Almost every finished images receives the folowing beauty treatment :
- Contrast
- Dodge/Burn
- Unsharp Mask
When you receive a stick, there’s also an extra assignment : you have to throw the stick to 3 other photographers. I chose :
Serge “Shadow” Vancauwenberghe
Tom Leuntjens
Jens Daems
Because I’m simply to lazy to completely type the assignment here again, I’ll shamelessly copy it from the original blogpost Thomas made :
De opdracht: kies drie fotografen met de vraag om telkens drie beelden te posten samen met het origineel. Die geven dan op hun beurt de stok door aan drie andere, etc.
Als je drie foto’s uit je portfolio kiest, selecteer dan misschien twee beelden waar je een stapje verdergegaan bent in de nabewerking en één beeld die zo goed als onbewerkt gebleven is. Have fun!
